Hello, my name is Shantelle Goodman. I have worked in the early childhood education field since 1988. I truly feel my gift is connecting with young children. I attended Freed-Hardman University where I majored in Child Development and Psychology. I have experience as a nanny, Pre-K teacher, assistant director of a private preschool, and have worked exclusively with infants since 1998.
I have had extensive training in Baby Signs, CPR and First Aid, TECTA continuing education classes, safe and healthy environments, and creative curriculum. I am currently in the process of obtaining my CDA.
My goal is to love and nurture children who are left in my care. I work with fellow teachers as a team to provide a secure environment for children. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to watch young children discover new things about their world.
I have always known I wanted to work with kids. I’ve balanced two ideas of what I wanted to do: either teach or be a nurse. Teaching just seems more for me. I worked as a CNA for three years. While doing that, I worked for five months in the NICU at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital where I gained knowledge about infants. Besides my
experience as a CNA I worked at Country Day Learning Center in Ponca City, Okla., where I taught 2-year-olds as the classroom’s lead teacher before I moved back to Nashville.
I currently am a certified nurse assistant, and have finished my TN-ELDS training. I am looking forward to furthering my training by obtaining my CDA. To work with kids and watch them grow is my mission. It’s a passion, and I take it as a gift that I get to do it every day.
